Throughout the unincorporated area known as Bernice hydrothermal veins and breccias exists rich in barite and other gangue minerals. Barite, being the most prevalent, forms typically as yellow rhombohedrons, often with late-stage undefined granular crust of barite on several crystal faces. Specimens with clean quality are seldom seen, and are prized for the locale.
This specimen has nicely isolated crystals on matrix with good color and minimal abrasions. The matrix base has been formatted and polished to 600 for display.
