Madan is a large Pb-Zn-Ag mining district comprised of over 40 different operations. The ancient deposit has only most heavily been exploited in the last half a century, leading to many fine quality sulfide mineral specimens.
This specimen is a matrix of classic madan. Lustrous sphalerite transitions bronze color as it nears the chalcopyrite. Quartz crystals erupt from the sulfides with speckled themselves with calcite. While there is abrasion present, the aesthetics are spectacular at display angle.
