Originally a major mining district for coal in the late 19th and 20th century, the Oskaloosa area is rich in carbonate and evaporite minerals like calcite and selenite.
This specimen is a beautiful example of selenite with bitumen inclusions. It carries with it a generic handwritten label from the previously collector- unknown.
