The Rum Jungle mine, located in Australia’s Northern Territory, is historically significant for both its uranium production and its diverse suite of secondary mineral specimens formed through extensive weathering processes. Oxidation of sulfide-rich ore bodies produced an array of visually distinctive minerals, including malachite, azurite, brochantite, and other copper-bearing alteration products highly valued by mineral collectors.
This is an absolutely classic example of malachite and cerussite intergrown with minor psilomelane present as well. The cerussite exhibits offset reticulation when view at the proper angle.
