Madan is a large Pb-Zn-Ag mining district comprised of over 40 different operations. The ancient deposit has only most heavily been exploited in the last half a century, leading to many fine quality sulfide mineral specimens. The Batantsi mine is particularly known for its unique and good quality rhodochrosite.
This specimen is a bed of needle quartz with “puffballs” of pale pink calcite scattered throughout. The specimen displays well, giving the appeal of a valley of crystals.
